Habitat Description

Xeric, oak dominated woodland, barrens, and scrub habitats on sandy soil. Inhabits open-canopy pitch-pine scrub-oak barrens and thickets, and open oak woodland on Martha’s Vineyard.

Threats to Survival

Habitat loss, fire suppression, invasion by exotic plants, introduced generalist parasitoids, insecticide spraying, off-road vehicles and light pollution are all threat.

Controlled fire management to maintain open habitats and limiting human disturbance are the most likely to be successful actions.
